Officials of the Cuban regime in Ciego de Ávila did not attend a program that the Periódico Invasor broadcasts on its YouTube channel this Wednesday.

According to a report by the weekly on Facebook, representatives of the municipal administration council in Avila had been summoned by the province's government communication department to discuss the nightlife of the city.

The executives were supposed to address the work of cultural institutions, dining establishments, and nightlife centers, a contentious topic they ultimately chose to avoid facing and opted not to show up.

His absence forced the suspension of the live broadcast of the program.

Invasor urged the authorities to provide a response.

This is not the first time that leaders in Ciego de Ávila have stood up official journalists.

In March of last year, Agriculture officials who were scheduled to give an interview to Inna Abella, also from the Periódico Invasor, failed to show up for their appointment.

The meeting was supposed to focus on the control of land possession, use, and legality in Cuba, but they were afraid and left the agenda "up in the air," an attitude that, in Abella's opinion, contradicts the government's communication policy.

The absence of leaders at interviews with regime media is becoming increasingly common. The state has not reported in any of the cases that those responsible have been punished for failing to provide the information they owe to the people.

In February 2024, officials left journalist Miguel Reyes Mendoza waiting at a program on Guantánamo television where the Food Sovereignty Law and nutrition in Cuba were scheduled to be discussed.
