Damir's mother calls for help and denounces MINSAP: "If he dies, I hold you responsible."

The mother of Geobel Damir Ortiz, a Cuban child with serious health issues, accuses MINSAP of negligence and is urgently seeking help on social media to save her son's life.

The mother of the Cuban child Geobel Damir Ortiz Ramírez, who is hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Institute of Hematology with type 1 neurofibromatosis, a plexiform neurofibroma in his right eye, and acute leukemia, pleaded for help this Sunday for her son.

In a desperate plea to save the life of her infant, whose condition has worsened in recent days, the mother held the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba (MINSAP) accountable and requested help.

"They have done it wrong and continue to do so. If he dies, I will hold you responsible, guilty. My son Damir's life depends on you," he wrote in a post on Facebook.

Previously, he had written "Help" on his own wall on that social network.

The doctor Miguel Ángel Ruano Sánchez, president of the Cuban Free Medical Guild, alerted this Sunday that

In a report on social media, the doctor explained that the medical treatments that were not provided to Damir have contributed to the worsening of the illness.

"There were failures in the progression of his illness that have led him to where he is today. He never received genetic profiling studies, a thorough DNA analysis to look for changes in genes or chromosomes that may cause a disease, in light of the suspicion of a genetically-caused condition such as neurofibromatosis type 1," he said.

In his live broadcast on Facebook, he added that the little one was never subjected to a tumor study on his right eye through a biopsy that would allow for a conclusive determination that it was indeed a plexiform neurofibroma.

That clinical diagnosis—even dismissed at its inception by people who are no longer in Cuba—was never corroborated, he said.

"Cuba has never had, nor does it currently have, updated technology to reach that diagnosis. This diagnosis was concluded based solely on clinical impressions without confirmation from pathological laboratories as is required in these cases. The few studies that were conducted were too spaced out over eight years and contained procedural technical errors," he clarified.

This Sunday, the boy Damir experienced another drop in platelets and hemoglobin, in addition to bleeding from the injury on the side of his face and in his right eye.

Given this situation, the specialists proceeded to administer the antifungal Amphotericin B and performed a new transfusion of three units of platelets, plasma, and red blood cells, a procedure that continued throughout the morning of this Sunday, the doctor emphasized.

Despite the severity of the clinical picture, a chest X-ray indicated slight respiratory improvement, suggesting a good response to antibiotic treatment, according to the intensivist.

In recent months, Damir's health has worsened with a diagnosis of acute leukemia, which further complicates his fragile health.

The family is working quickly to gather the documents and expedite the humanitarian visa application to be able to receive treatment at a hospital in South Florida.

Eliannis Ramírez continues to appeal to the international community and U.S. authorities for her son to receive the urgent medical attention he needs. A hospital in Miami has offered to handle his case.
