Minor goes to the police to reopen the case against Otaola's former treasurer and explains the reason

The minor claims to have evidence of what happened.

Ronaldo Luis Mosqueda Toledo, the 17-year-old for whom Andy Santana, former treasurer of Alex Otaola, went to jail, went to the Hialeah police this Thursday and requested that the case be reopened.

“I want to let you know that I hold Andy Santana and Alexander Otaola responsible for anything, no matter how minor, that may happen to me from now on. […] “We are seeking justice,” said the minor in statements to Univision after arriving at the police station, accompanied by two individuals.

In her initial complaint, Mosqueda Toledo alleged sexual violence and encouragement to use drugs, which led the police to arrest Santana on October 3, 2024.

However, by the end of January, the charges were dropped after the minor retracted his initial statement, something he claims to have done after being threatened.

“He threatened me with sexual videos of mine that he had,” explained Mosqueda Toledo to clarify the reason for retracting.

However, something has now prompted him to go all the way with the matter; he handed his phone over to the police, and on the device would be the videos that previously made him retract.

“The FBI will be investigating this; the FBI will be involved here, due to child pornography,” he stated.

"They took my phone where all the sexual evidence is. I also sent it to the prosecutor," she specified upon leaving the police station.

The private investigator Joe Carrillo, who accompanied him to the police appointment, when questioned about the reasons that led the authorities to dismiss the case, emphasized “There are people here who are being protected.”

"That question isn't for me, it's for the prosecutor," he added.

Carrillo expressed his wish for the truth to come to light.

The lawyer in charge of the case of the minor, who lives in the U.S. without his parents, responded that her firm is investigating “the possible inaction of the authorities after a violation of a restraining order by the perpetrator was reported, which allowed further abuse to be committed against the minor.”

Arrest of the accused and subsequent dismissal of the case

A closing memorandum from the State Attorney's Office, published on January 31, confirmed that the 17-year-old recanted in November, claiming that he had been threatened by a masked individual to make accusations against Andy Santana Zamora, accused of sexual activity with a minor.

According to the document, the complainant expressed fears for the safety of his family in Cuba and stated that there was no evidence of sexual activity or drug use between him and Santana.

The prosecutor also noted that the young man reaffirmed his retraction in an interview with Telemundo and in an Instagram post.

After the case was dismissed, the influencer Alexander Otaola expressed his happiness.

"Being part of the winning group took its toll on you; but the hell is over now. Justice has spoken! To all those who have participated in the discrediting, the attacks aimed at screwing us over, I only tell you that I am waiting for your retraction videos. Welcome aboard, Andy Santana," Otaola wrote on his social media.

The Cuban presenter also addressed alleged conspirators aiming to undermine his political aspirations related to the mayoralty of Miami and his role as an activist denouncing the Cuban dictatorship, whom he regarded as discredited and failures.
