Around 400 Russian tourists have been stranded at the Varadero resort since the night of March 4, after flight FV-6928 of the Rossiya airline bound for Moscow was canceled due to technical issues with the aircraft.

According to information published by the digital portal TourDom.ru, the flight was scheduled to take off at 7:25 PM local time (03:25 Moscow time) on March 4th.

However, after the detection of the faults, the launch was initially postponed to 7:00 p.m. on March 5 (03:00 Moscow time on March 6).

To resolve the situation, the airline sent a backup plane that, according to data from Flightradar, was over the Atlantic on its way to Cuba on the morning of March 5.

Meanwhile, the passengers were accommodated in hotels in the Cuban resort while waiting for their return flight. They were expected to arrive at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow around 2:30 PM on March 6th.

According to information from Flightradar, the flight departed from "Juan Gualberto Gómez" International Airport in Varadero at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, and arrived in Moscow at 3:47 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.

This incident is part of a series of problems that have affected Russian airlines over the past year, exacerbated by a shortage of aircraft and parts due to Western sanctions.

In January, a group of 328 Russian tourists was stranded for over 28 hours in Cuba due to a technical failure in the turbine of a Boeing 777-31H aircraft, also from the airline Rossiya.

Currently, most international flights from Russia are concentrated in destinations that have not imposed restrictions on Moscow, such as Cuba, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
