Investigation into the leak of photos of the Cuban musician Kamykacy's body at Julio Trigo Hospital in Havana

The artist Rayne Paisan Dales, 32 years old, was murdered on February 22 in Havana. So far, four members of the family known as Los Cachita have been detained in the locality of La Fraternidad. The deceased's circle claims that someone took pictures of the serious knife wounds the young man had and shared them on social media. He was also robbed of his shoes

What happened with the body of the salsa musician Paulo FG, who died in a traffic accident in Havana, had also occurred a few days earlier with the body of the young Cuban musician Rayne Paisan Dales, 32, known as Kamykacy, who was murdered on Saturday, February 22, around 9:00 PM, also in Havana. His family alleges that someone at Julio Trigo Hospital in Arroyo Naranjo took photos of the serious stab wounds the deceased suffered after being attacked by several members of the García family (Los Cachita) in the locality of La Fraternidad, and shared them on social media.

The case has already been reported to the police at the Capri Unit in Havana, and this Monday it was scheduled for the Julio Trigo Hospital in Arroyo Naranjo, where the events occurred, to explain to the family what measures have been taken regarding the person or people who photographed Kamykacy's body and shared those images that CiberCuba has accessed, which exceed any form of human insensitivity ever witnessed. However, they have postponed that explanation until this Thursday.

While the person responsible for leaking a video of Paulo FG's corpse was identified in six days and expelled from the Cuban healthcare system, in the case of Kamykacy, the Julio Trigo hospital has been stalling the young musician's family for fifteen days. In fact, some officials have even told Rayne Paisan Dales' circle that they cannot expel the entire medical team that was on duty the day the incident occurred. Faced with administrative inaction, the artist's circle had no choice but to file a complaint with the police. Not only for the leaked images but also because the reggaeton artist had his shoes stolen in the hospital.

Everything happened on Saturday, February 22, 2025. On the day of the crime, Kamykacy's family had already alerted the police that Rayne Paisan Dales was being watched, followed, and threatened by individuals close to the Los Cachita family. However, the PNR did not take action; the intimidation escalated, and the musician was brutally attacked with machetes and large blades on a corner of La Fraternidad (Calvario People's Council), a modest neighborhood in Arroyo Naranjo, on the outskirts of Havana.

So far, there are only four detentions, but the environment of the babalawo also expects an investigation into the women who, while attacking the artist, shouted for them to give more so that he would respect the family. During the brawl, they threw bottles to prevent neighbors from intervening in the fight and thus stop the young man from being chopped up in the street due to a conflict that Los Cachita had with their stepbrother. They also believe that those who watched Rayne Paisan Dales and informed by phone about his whereabouts to those who ultimately killed him should be investigated.

On the day of his death, Rayne Paisan Dales was alone on Julio Cárdenas street, between Pasaje and Sofía, in La Fraternidad, near his half-brother's house, waiting for him, when he was brutally attacked with machetes, knives, and bottles by nine people, of whom the police have only arrested four. "It was a set-up. It was premeditated," says a witness to the events.

Between Los Cachita and Kamykacy's half-brother, there were issues dating back to October 2024. A family member intervened, and it was agreed that the problems would remain unresolved, but Rayne Paisan's brother, who was aggrieved, attacked a member of Los Cachita with a knife after rumors circulated in the neighborhood that he wouldn't do anything, reigniting the conflict. It was then that Rayne Paisan stepped in to defend his brother and became a target for the García family. In fact, someone warned him 24 hours before his death while he was standing at the medical post. According to what he told those close to him, this person said: "Move, they're coming for you."

On Friday, February 21, the day before the crime, Los Cachita attacked a friend's house of Kamykazy with bottles, believing that Rayne Paisan was inside. That same night, they showed up at the house of the musician's stepbrother's brother-in-law and brandished machetes "for anyone who had ties to him." It was then that the family alerted the police, who turned a deaf ear. On February 22, 24 hours later, the tragedy occurred.

"The women were throwing bottles so that no one could help him," comments a witness to CiberCuba, adding that when Rayne Paisan's mother arrived at the scene, the young man, who was severely injured, had already been taken to the hospital by a cousin who was also injured in the scuffle.

As soon as he arrived at Julio Trigo Hospital, Kamykacy was taken immediately to the operating room, but nothing could be done for him. The injuries were fatal.

Only child (with two stepbrothers on his father's side) and well-known for his music and religious practices, Kamykacy had never been incarcerated nor accused of any crime. "He was a very cheerful boy. Always singing and recording his music videos,” say those who knew him.

"His murder created panic in the neighborhood. There was terror. No one wanted to go out into the street. Two brothers did, backed by a gang that would call them to inform where Rayne Paisan was," they note, lamenting that things ended this way. The police intervention could have saved a life.

Kamykacy was honored with all religious rites at the La Fraternidad "Efi Embemoro" site, as is fitting for an abuakuá.
