A 52-year-old Cuban doctor identified as Alberto Camejo was stabbed to death at his home in the municipality of Caimito, in the province of Artemisa, allegedly in an attempt to rob him, according to various reports on social media.
Although the case has come to light in recent hours, the crime occurred on March 20 in the Los Naranjos area during a power outage, according to a Facebook post by the profile Almakki Díaz.
The doctor, specialized in Hygiene and Epidemiology, was the victim of a brutal attack.
According to the cited source, several individuals broke into his home, violently assaulted him, and stabbed him 22 times, leaving him in an unrecognizable state.
The body was found by local residents, who alerted the authorities.
Moreover, in addition to the theft of an electric motorcycle assigned to him for work, the assailants are believed to have taken a substantial amount of money, allegedly from the recent sale of his mother's house.
So far, no arrests have been made, and those involved remain at large.
Friends, patients, neighbors, and loved ones of the victim have expressed their shock over the crime.
"We mourn the shocking loss of Alberto Camejo, a victim of a cruel and merciless murder, by a beast upon whom the full weight of Justice must fall. Explain to me, God: why has so much humanity been lost and why is there so much cruelty? Why do so many actions like these happen every day? Why do good people, whom we love, leave us prematurely?" questioned a friend of the victim from the U.S.
"Albe, dear childhood and adolescent study companion, disciplined and intelligent; wonderful son, tireless health worker, excellent neighbor (a model of help and unreserved cooperation), loyal friend… What will we do without you? What…?" the source added.
As of the closing of this report, there are no further details regarding the unfortunate incident, which adds to the climate of widespread violence that has been increasing in recent years in Cuba.
