One dead and one injured in a domestic violence incident in Miami Gardens

The incident occurred on Friday morning.

A tragedy shook Miami Gardens this Friday when a shooting inside a home on the 4600 block of NW 193rd Street left a man dead and his stepson, an 18-year-old, seriously injured.

According to the Miami Gardens Police Department, the incident is part of a domestic violence case.

The police received a report of gunshots at 6:38 a.m. and, upon arriving at the scene, found two men with gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to local hospitals by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units, but one of them, identified by relatives as "Aaron," was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Diana Delgado, spokesperson for the Miami Gardens police, explained that the deceased was the romantic partner of the woman who lives in the house.

"The incident was between a man and a woman in a romantic relationship. We do not have all the details yet, but we know it was a case of domestic violence," Delgado stated to the local press.

At the time of the shooting, the woman's children, aged 15 and 18, were also inside the house.

The eldest of them was the one who was injured. His biological father, who arrived at the scene after learning about what had happened, expressed his concern in statements to the press gathered at the location.

“I only know that apparently there was an argument and that both ended up shot, including my son,” he said.

The authorities have not revealed the identity of the injured young man, who remains hospitalized in stable condition. So far, it has not been confirmed who fired the shots, nor have any arrests been made.

Background of Violence

Family members present at the scene reported that this was not the first time violent incidents had occurred in that house.

The agents observed visible marks on the woman's arms, which could be signs of previous physical abuse.

The detectives interviewed the woman, her injured son, and the young man's biological father at the scene in an effort to reconstruct what triggered the tragedy.
