Public transport authorities have denied a supposed temporary suspension of the confrontation service (C.F) on buses in the capital. The Havana Transportation Company has issued an official statement categorically refuting this information.
In its statement, the entity clarifies:
"Dear passengers: This is to inform you that this information is FALSE. Although we have been affected by fuel availability, which has resulted in a reduction in the number of trips, it is neither the intention of our company nor of our governmental and political institutions to suspend such an important service."
The company acknowledges the current operational challenges, but emphasizes that the confrontation service remains a priority for the mobility of citizens.
The statement also refers to certain incidents of aggression and acts of social misconduct that have occurred on some buses.
However, it is clarified that:
"There are individuals connected to these events who have been brought to justice, and additional measures are being implemented to counteract these actions. However, these incidents do not justify or warrant the suspension of a service so valued by the public."
The Transport Company of Havana reaffirmed its commitment to the people and its determination to keep the confront service operational despite current logistical and social challenges. It also thanked users for their understanding and urged them not to spread unverified information that could cause confusion or unnecessary alarm.
Temporary suspension of the confrontation?
A note previously published in a Facebook group and deleted shortly after announced the temporary suspension of the Confrontas (C.F.) service on all buses in Havana, due to an alarming series of acts of vandalism that jeopardize both the safety of passengers and the integrity of the vehicles.
The notice stated that the measure came into effect on April 23 and would remain in place until further notice.
"This difficult decision has been made with the hope of preserving the few buses we have left and protecting our passengers," the note stated.
"Unfortunately, acts of violence, such as throwing stones at our buses, have put everyone's safety at risk. We hope that with this measure we can preserve the few buses we have left and avert a greater tragedy," the information added.
The message described it as "heartbreaking" to see how some choose to damage what others hold dear and emphasized that the measure was taken to "prevent a greater tragedy and ensure everyone's safety."
"We know that this situation is disastrous for many of you, and we want to extend our sincerest apologies for the inconveniences caused. We appreciate your understanding and support during these difficult times," they concluded.
Following the recent denial, many internet users are left confused.
