Three men were injured with a knife in the early hours of Thursday at a residence in the Westchester neighborhood, in southwest Miami-Dade, in an incident that authorities have described as isolated but has raised concerns among local residents. The suspect in the attack is at large and is actively being sought by the police.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. at a residence located at the intersection of 16th Street and 93rd Court in the southwest of the county.
Officials from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) responded to the scene following 911 calls reporting screams coming from the property, according to Local 10 News.
According to the spokesperson for the MDSO, Ángel Rodríguez, and Detective Samantha A. Choon, the victims—men aged 31, 32, and 33—were transported as trauma alerts to HCA Florida Hospital in Kendall. One of them remains in critical condition, while the other two are stable, according to local outlets such as Telemundo 51 and América TeVé.
A surveillance camera captured three individuals getting out of a vehicle and walking towards the house moments before the incident. Shortly after, two of them hurried back to the car, which was waiting with the engine running. Another recording, shared by a neighbor, showed a discussion among those involved, during which one fell to the ground and another fled the scene. “I’m sorry, I’m trembling. It's too much,” a witness told NBC Miami.
The crime scene showed clear signs of a violent attack: bloodstains on a door; a puddle at the entrance of the house, along with a cap and personal belongings.
According to neighbors in the area, the house is known for frequently hosting parties, and police presence has been consistent in recent months. Glenn Zimmerman, a resident of the neighborhood, noted: "The police have been coming almost every two days for the past six to eight months. I told my wife that something bad was going to happen, and it did."
The Sheriff's Department stated that this is an isolated incident and that, according to the preliminary investigation, the victims were acquainted with the attacker. However, the direct connection has not yet been confirmed. "The most important thing is that the victims recover and are able to cooperate with our investigators," spokesman Rodríguez said.
The police urged anyone with relevant information or security camera footage to contact Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-8477. The investigation is still ongoing.
