Foreign currency in Cuba today: How much are the dollar, euro, and MLC worth on the black market?

The dollar, the euro, and the MLC maintain their stability in the informal Cuban market, reflecting the economic tension on the island. These are the current values in the black market.

The price of the United States dollar (USD) in the Cuban informal market remains this Thursday, May 8, at 370 Cuban pesos (CUP), according to the daily rate monitoring conducted by the independent media elTOQUE.

This figure confirms the stability of the currency in recent days, amidst an economy marked by a shortage of foreign exchange and rising prices in Cuba.

The euro increased its value by five pesos compared to the previous trading day. It regained a strong position and is currently valued at 385 CUP, remaining the most expensive currency.

The European currency has shown slight fluctuations in recent days, but it continues to outperform the dollar in exchange value, driven by its limited circulation in the country.

For its part, the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), used in state stores for high-demand products, is currently exchanged at 260 CUP. Although its value is lower than that of the dollar and the euro, it remains a key reference for many transactions on the island.
