La Guantanamera is preparing an ajiaco and heating up the networks: How do I make a broth like this in Cuba?

La Guantanamera is thriving on TikTok with its caldosa, evoking nostalgia and cravings. The recipe, made with ingredients like corn and pork ribs, highlights the flavor of Cuban cuisine.

The Cuban content creator La Guantanamera (@laguantanamera5) has once again captured TikTok's attention with a video where she prepares a delicious caldosa, also known as ajiaco in other regions of Cuba.

In just a few seconds, the bubbling and flavorful pot has awakened cravings and memories in thousands of users both on the island and beyond.

Her recipe, made with what she had on hand, includes corn, malanga, pumpkin, potatoes, pepper, garlic, onion, and pork ribs. "In Cuba, only one type of meat was used because there weren't others," the influencer replied to those asking for more variety of meats in this Cuban traditional dish.

The caldosa, a symbol of family gatherings and solidarity, does not require luxurious ingredients. The recipe has generated hundreds of nostalgic comments and praises from Cubans in exile who miss β€œthe taste of home.”

In Cuba, amidst the current crisis, the scarcity and the extremely high prices of food, the recurring comment from internet users was another: And now, how do we make a broth like this in this country?
