Witness speaks out about the brutal murder of a Cuban woman at the hands of her stepfather in Guyana

The brutal assault occurred last Friday.

A young man who was a direct witness to the murder of a 21-year-old Cuban girl at the hands of her stepfather in Guyana appeared visibly affected by what had happened.

In statements to a local media outlet, the witness indicated that he was awakened by the screams, and when he approached, he saw a partially open door and the Cuban brutally stabbing his victims.

The young man said that he tried to help, but that it was impossible to jump in the middle.

With a shaky voice and clearly nervous about the scene he witnessed, he recounted that he went to his room for a moment and that, upon returning, the young woman was approaching him seeking help when she collapsed.

In the comments section of the post, several internet users understood perfectly that getting involved would have merely made them another fatality.

Others anticipated that the young man, judging by his attitude while explaining it, is in need of specialized psychological help to overcome the harsh scene he witnessed.

The young woman who passed away, identified as Davely Morales, was murdered by her stepfather, Wispriey Alfonso, also Cuban and 40 years old, who also seriously injured Milaysi Rodríguez, 38 years old and Davely's mother.

Although he initially escaped from the scene, the Cuban later turned himself in to the authorities.

The crime occurred around 7 PM last Friday on Pike Street, Kitty, in the city of Georgetown, in the apartment where the family, who had recently arrived from Cuba about a month ago, resided.

Davely Morales worked as a sales representative and lived with her mother, her nine-year-old sister, and Alfonso, at lot 56 on Pike Street.

Prior information indicated that Alfonso attacked his victims with a butcher knife.

The technicians from the Central Fire Station quickly arrived at the scene and confirmed Morales's death, while Rodríguez was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where she remains hospitalized in critical condition with multiple stab wounds.

The preliminary examination revealed that Morales had deep lacerations on his hands, neck, and jaw. His body was taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where an autopsy was conducted to accurately determine the cause of death.

Alfonso showed up hours later at Kitty's police station with the murder weapon, a butcher knife, locally known as a chopper, still stained with blood.

He was arrested and is currently cooperating with the murder investigation opened by the Guyanese authorities.

A request on the GoFundMe platform seeks assistance for the young woman's funeral, which will take place on May 30th.

So far, the Guyanese police have not revealed the reason for the attack.

The Cuban embassy in Guyana has not issued public statements regarding the incident.
