The yellow rice with pork ribs from HavanaDice is a hit on TikTok for its homemade flavor. It uses fresh ribs and a sofrito made with onion, bell pepper, garlic, and spices, resulting in a tasty and visually appealing dish.

A Cuban recipe with homemade flavor and simple technique is taking TikTok by storm. It is about yellow rice with pork ribs from the content creator HavanaDice (@havanadice), a Cuban chef based in Miami.

The video of this preparation has already amassed over 250,000 views and thousands of comments from users who spare no praise: "This looks delicious," many repeat.

The secret: fresh ribs and sautéed seasoning

The chef explains that the success of this rice dish lies in using flavorful pork ribs (two pounds in this case), which should be meaty and fresh. From there, a traditional sofrito is prepared with: 1 white onion, 1 red or green bell pepper, 3 cloves of garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil.

In the pan, sauté all these ingredients and add oregano, cumin, and bay leaf, along with a quarter cup of tomato sauce and a hint of "Cuban-style seasoning." Then, add the ribs and cook them over medium heat, allowing them to absorb the flavor of the sauté.

Rice: simple, tasty, and beautifully yellow

While the ribs absorb the sauce, wash three cups of rice and mix them in a rice cooker with the ribs and the sauce. Add three cups of water or broth. To achieve the characteristic yellow color, the chef recommends using a little bijol, and adjusting the salt and pepper to taste.

The rice is cooked as usual, but before stirring it, once it's ready, the final touch makes all the difference. Half a cup of cooked green peas is added, the pot is covered, and it is allowed to cook for five more minutes. The result is a tasty, aromatic, and visually appealing dish, perfect for sharing with family or friends.
