
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, artistically known as Bad Bunny, is a Puerto Rican singer in the genres of rap, reggaeton, and Latin trap. He was born in Vega Baja, San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 10, 1994.
Famous for songs like Amorfoda, Callaíta, and Yo perreo sola, which have accumulated billions of views on YouTube, Bunny is widely recognized for his numerous collaborations with other prominent figures in the urban genre such as J. Balvin with whom he released the album Oasis (2019) or Becky G, with whom in 2017 he topped international charts thanks to the hit Mayores that catapulted the young American of Mexican descent into fame.
Among his most important collaborations are: Te guste, with Jennifer López (2018), Mía (2018) with Drake, which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100, Está Rico alongside Marc Anthony and Will Smith, his second studio album (February 2020) YHLQMDLG (I do what I want) featuring special appearances by Daddy Yankee, Sech, Anuel AA, Yaviah, Kendo Kaponi, Jowell & Randy, Ñengo Flow, among others. YHLQMDLG reached number two on the Billboard 200 in the United States, becoming the highest-charting Spanish-language album in the history of that chart.
In July 2017, he was honored with the Composer of the Year award at the Latin music awards of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP)
In 2019, Rolling Stone magazine once again updated its prestigious list of 'The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time' to include artists who have made a significant impact on the music scene in recent years, among them Bad Bunny, who entered this new version at position 447 with X100PRE (the singer's debut studio album from 2018).
He has been nominated several times for the Latin Grammys, the BET Hip Hop Awards, and the Latin American Music Awards, where he won in two categories, and in 2017 he was nominated for the Grammy Awards with "I Like It" alongside Cardi B and J Balvin for Song of the Year.
In February 2020, he was invited to perform at the halftime show of Super Bowl LIV, headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, with participation from the Colombian artist J. Balvin.
In May 2020, he released Las que no iban a salir, a compilation album featuring Zion & Lennox, Yandel, Don Omar, Nicky Jam, Jhay Cortez, and the singer's current girlfriend, Gabriela Berlingeri.
In September 2020, he traveled around the Big Apple in a truck converted into a stage for hours while singing some of his hits. The performance was streamed live on YouTube and was followed by millions of people.
In August 2020, he joined his voice with that of the popular Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández to support the presidential campaign of Democratic candidate Joe Biden. "I used to like you, but not anymore. I found you appealing, but not anymore," sings the song he performs, as images of the current president and Republican candidate, Donald Trump, are interspersed in a 30-second video approved by Biden.
In September 2020, Bunny, in collaboration with Crocs, the well-known shoe brand that the reggaeton artist is a fan of, launched a custom model designed by him that sold out within minutes.
